Management Team

EXPERIENCED MANAGEMENT TEAM
The management team prides itself on its core stability and its flexibility to identify and respond to both challenges and opportunities. The top seven people in the company have been at Ramgen for a total of 51 years.

Douglas N. Jewett, CEO, Director
Mr. Jewett served as President and CEO of Ramgen from 1998 to 2004, and from 2004 to the present he has served as CEO. During those periods Ramgen raised more than $22 million in private funds and $26 million in non-dilutive government funds. In 1990 Mr. Jewett founded Techna Pacific Corporation and then managed it as President and Chairman until 2000 as it focused on technology and natural resource opportunities in the former Soviet Union. Since 2000 Mr. Jewett has also served as Chairman of American Global Health Group, LLC, a vertically integrated Aloe Vera producer operating in China. Mr. Jewett holds his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his JD from Yale University. He was the elected City attorney of Seattle from 1978 to 1990.

Peter Baldwin, President, Director
Mr. Baldwin is President of Ramgen and a recognized and respected industry leader in the power generation industry, as well as air and gas compression. As the past President of Northern Research & Engineering Corporation (NREC), Mr. Baldwin is widely recognized as the founder and inspirational leader behind the PowerWorks Family of microturbine-based products, now organized as Ingersoll-Rand Energy Systems. Prior to joining NREC, Mr. Baldwin had been Vice President of Sales and Service for Ingersoll-Rand’s Air Compressor Group, and has held a variety of executive level positions in his 33-year career with Ingersoll-Rand, including international assignments in both the UK and Italy. Mr. Baldwin has been President of his own consulting firm, basee, since 2000 and is an Executive Correspondent for Turbomachinery International. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

Shawn P. Lawlor, Chief Technology Officer, Chairman
Mr. Lawlor co-founded Ramgen to explore the application of supersonic flow phenomena to the development of novel systems for power generation, gas compression and expansion. Mr. Lawlor has identified, defined and played a key role in most of the technology currently being pursued by Ramgen. He has numerous patents and publications in the fields of engine system design, power generation with combustion engine systems, supersonic inlet design and stationary compressor design. Prior to founding Ramgen, Mr. Lawlor served as the Chief Aerodynamicist and Director of Engineering for Advanced Wind Turbines, Inc. Prior to that, Mr. Lawlor was a Lead Engineer/Analyst at the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International, a military contractor specializing in high-speed flight propulsion systems including rockets, ramjets and other high-speed flight systems. Mr. Lawlor holds an M.S. and B.S. from the University of Washington in Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Aaron Koopman, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Aaron Koopman joined Ramgen in 1999. He has 12 years of experience working as a program manager involved in airplane certification at the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company. Since joining Ramgen Power Systems in 1999, Mr. Koopman has managed the evolving rotor programs sponsored by the DOE, CEC, DoD and DARPA to demonstrate technology development including: 10MW Ramgen Engine Prototype Demonstrator, 800 KW Ramgen Engine Pre-commercial Demonstrator, Static Rig Testing at GASL in Ronkonkoma NY, Rampressor compressor rig demonstrator, and Fuel Cell / Rampressor Hybrid Demonstration. These programs have totaled over $25,000,000 in awarded funds. As the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Koopman is responsible for the organizational guidance and progress of all projects. Duties include review of the financial progress and issues, company resource allocation, milestone and schedule performance, and overall contract requirements.

Joseph Williams, Chief Engineer
Mr. Williams serves as Chief Engineer for Ramgen’s 20-engineer R&D staff. He joined Ramgen in 2003 from the Seattle Aerosciences Center of Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. He directs and oversees all engineering efforts including aerodynamics, mechanical, combustion and test. He coordinates technical strategic planning, program development, cost and schedule. Mr. Williams has 14 years of experience in the development and demonstration of complex, innovative technologies under programs sponsored by NASA, DOE, Air Force, Navy, Army, CEC, and DARPA. Mr. Williams holds M.S. and B.S. degrees from the University of Washington, both in Mechanical Engineering.

Jarlath Hume, Vice President for Government Relations
Mr. Hume joined Ramgen in November 2008. Prior to officially joining Ramgen Mr. Hume was President of Global Power Services and worked closely with Ramgen for ten years on the development of the Company technology. Prior to that Mr. Hume was President of the Techna Pacific Corporation. Mr. Hume has a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Washington.
